Nordic-Baltic Information Campaign Against Trafficking in Women

Trafficking in women constitutes violation of human rights and infringement of basic principles of the rule of law and democracy. It threatens our common interest in upholding democratic values, human rights and equality. Trafficking in women is a serious gender eŕuality problem and one of the most violent expressions of the suppression of women.
Inasmuch as trafficking in women is a problem of an international dimension, it's solution cannot be effective without co-operation among states. Co-operation is a key word, but it presents a substantial challenge, which requires implementing concrete actions in a co-ordinated manner and which, in practical terms, constitutes a difficult issue; therefore, we must be ready to meet the challenge.
Awareness raising on trafficking in women is one of key and essential areas, where we can focus attention and efforts with the view to preventing this phenomenon. Importance and need of information campaigns in order to raise awareness of the risks and problems of trafficking is stressed in different levels of the society. Consequently we give our full support to the specific idea to run the Campaign to combat trafficking in women in all Nordic-Baltic countries and promise to mobilise all our efforts to implement it.
